Carbon and stainless steel IBC tanks are completely fire-resistant. This is due to their oxidation resistance which can withstand extremely high temperatures. Because of this, they are used to transport and store both hazardous and flammable materials. 

Liquids Carbon and Stainless Steel IBC Tanks Can Hold

Numerous types of liquids can be safely held by carbon and stainless steel IBC tanks. This includes fuel, paint, and various types of gas. The tanks will secure the liquids preventing them from leaking or heating up to high temperatures. This is because the tanks are insulated which helps the contents to stay cool. 

The Highest Temperature Carbon and Stainless Steel IBC Tanks Can Hold

Carbon and stainless steel IBC tanks can hold liquids up to a temperature of 1148.8 degrees Celsius. Anything higher than this temperature will result in the IBC tanks having oxidization, but they will not catch on fire. Carbon and stainless steel IBC tanks can hold liquids that are Category 4—those that have a flashpoint below 93 degrees Celsius. 

What Happens if the Contents Catch on Fire

If the contents happen to catch on fire inside the carbon and stainless steel IBC tank, they will not burn the tank. In addition to this, if the containers have a special vent built on them, it will help to contain the fire. The vent will also ensure that the tote is not completely damaged. However, this is not common and fires inside a carbon and stainless steel IBC tank are very rare.
