How Do You Measure an IBC for Fittings?
If the specifications for IBC fittings that fit a particular IBC tank aren’t available on the item description, the size can be determined quickly by using a tape measure. Each fitting is labeled with the diameter of the IBC mouth in millimeters (including the threads) as well as the pitch of the thread, also in millimeters.
What Sizes of Fittings are Available?
There are four standard sizes for fittings to attach to IBC tanks. The fittings are standardized as well to fit the outlet on each IBC tote. The four standard sizes are:
- S60x6
- S75x6
- S92x4
- S100x8
What Kinds of Fittings Can You Get?
Some common fittings include male to female attachments, female to female adaptors, groove adaptors, and attachments that allow you to connect a hose. Some provide a specialized stop valve or connector to other pieces of equipment.
What Are the Materials of the Fittings?
Most fittings are made of polypropylene or high-density polypropylene, a dense plastic that is graded even for chemical use. If the specific need of the container requires a more durable or specialized fitting, the attachments can be customized and crafted from another substance, like galvanized or stainless steel.
